DESCRIPTION:What better way to refresh your palate after a wine-filled day than to sample the best beers the Heathcote Region has to offer! \nWe invite you to sample our best brews\, talk beer and chill out in the beer garden of the Union Hotel. The Union will be putting on their great pub grub as per usual while we spin tunes and pull beers outside. The weather is normally gorgeous this time of year and the beer garden will be decked out and looking beautiful. \nWe will have taps and fridges filled with ale from local breweries\, Cornella Real\, Holgate Brewhouse and Tooborac Brewery. \nFriday night is locals night: if you’re a local\, in the area already or just looking for something to drink\, pop in and say hello! \nSaturday and Sunday: we’ll be going all day and night\, for those who are wine’d out and need a refreshing ale to keep on going. DESCRIPTION:As local Winter-Spring cabbages arrive by the box load to the CERES Fair Food warehouse\, we’re excited to be celebrating our inaugural Krautsourcing Day on October 8th. \nKrautsourcing Day is a quasi-festival of fermenting where Melbournians gather together to shred\, salt and schmoosh cabbage into jars before leaving them to ferment for 4-6 weeks. And of course\, everyone shares the spoils. \nThe Krautsourcing Day idea is similar to Crowdsaucing Day held in April this year\, only this time\, CERES Fair Food will bring locally grown cabbages to you\, your friends\, family and neighbours. Then together you can make all kinds of sauerkraut. If the idea of fermenting in a social setting lights your fire then Krautsourcing could be right up your alley. Perhaps it’s the invitation you need to get started\, or to share your existing skills with others.  \nHow does Krautsourcing Day work?\nUse the “invite friends” button or share this event to organise your own group of friends and/or family for a wonderful Saturday afternoon of being up close and personal with cabbage.  \nWe will provide you with the resources\, links\, information and know-how to create your own sauerkraut and learn more about the benefits of fermented foods. \nYou’ll be able to order cabbages come October through the CERES Fair Food website: http://www.ceresfairfood.org.au along with your regular order or as a one off (just create an account through the website). \nYou can join us on Saturday October 8th of the official Krautsourcing day\, or choose a day that most suits you. Be sure to get in while the cabbages last! \nCome kraut with us in October!  \n*Warning: Sauerkraut is a gateway ferment. Its ease belies a hidden risk of addiction\, and the likelihood of encouraging a deep and abiding ferment fervor. DESCRIPTION:Celebrating its fifth year\, the Melbourne Salami Festa keeps growing in popularity and in 2016 has expanded to a full weekend food festival. A record crowd of more than 6000 people attended last year’s Festa\, with more than 30\,000\nslices of home-made salami tasted during Sunday’s popular competition\, where punters vote for their favourite home made salami in the People’s Choice Award. \nThe 2016 Festa becomes a Day & Night Market\, showcasing the country’s best artisan salumi producers in the Grand Salumi Hall (open til 10pm Sat)\, and for the first time hosting a Farmer’s market during the day on Saturday. Demonstrations and workshops will run throughout the weekend along with great food\, live music and entertainment. \nArguably one of Melbourne’s most unique and fun food festivals\, the Festa has helped spark a revival of interest in the art and tradition of salami making. The event has been embraced by a passionate new breed of foodies\, as well as traditional families who have been making salami for generations.

SUMMARY:Lynbrook Lake Lantern Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Lynbrook Lake Lantern Festival is such a wonderful\, feel good community event held this Saturday 8th October 2016 from 4pm at Banjo Paterson Park (Paterson Drive Lynbrook.)   \nBring along a picnic supper\, chairs or blanket to sit on and enjoy the entertainment\, paint your lanterns and be a part of the wonderful atmosphere with our vibrant community. \nThere will be 3 free jumping castles and a free animal farm.\nFor a small fee ($3-5) kids and adults can paint a lantern (to take home) which lights up. At dusk they can take this lantern on our colourful lantern walk led by a surprise lit up friend.\nAll guests can release a floating lantern on the lake after dark (only $2\, bring a lighter we will have some)\nThere is entertainment on the stage from 4pm – 9:30pm including singers\, dancers\, karate demonstration and a band! There will be a magic show which has to be seen to be believed.  There is a stilt walker so bring your camera. At around 9pm there will be an amazing fire show with tricks never seen in Lynbrook\, a wonderful finale to our festival.   \nFun carnival food stalls including: fairy floss\, popcorn\, potato twisters\, coffee\, bbq\, Krispy Kreme donuts\, ice creams\, hot dogs and Thai food.  There will be other stalls and airbrush tattoos from $1.  Watch some teens or adults duke it out on the sumo suit mat!\nThis year’s event has something for everyone.\nFree entry – all welcome.
