Familiar favourites such as gözleme and döner kebab as well as delicious vegan and vegetarian snacks and sweets will be available. A Turkish coffee will give you strength to visit other stalls and the rest of Queen Victoria Market.\nOur friendly stall holders enjoy sharing information about their culture. Displays of Turkish arts and handcrafts will include demonstrations of ebru (paper marbling) and calligraphy. Musicians\, folk dancers and roving performers in colourful costumes will provide entertainment for visitors. The Australian Ottoman Mehter Band will perform on Sunday.\nThis family-friendly\, free event will be held under cover in the iconic sheds at the Queen Victoria Market.

DESCRIPTION:The Victoria Street Lunar Festival returns in 2022 by welcoming the Year of the Tiger. This year\, Victoria street will come to life in true hawker food style focusing on the outdoor dining experience. Local restaurants will extend their trade to footpath dining\, and food stalls will be located along Victoria Street\, each with their own dining areas. Like any restaurant operating in Melbourne at the moment\, guests will be asked to check in using the QR code system we’ve all become accustomed to.\nThe event will operate as a COVIDsafe event and is able to proceed with some changes which means regular activities such as carnival rides\, eating competitions and entertainment stages will be included in this year’s programming.\nWhilst we encourage people to visit Victoria Street and support local businesses\, we urge attendees to stay safe and socially distance by finding a spot at one of many outdoor dining spots.\nDuring the day\, expect to see the famous Lion Dance\, Dragon dancers and firecrackers. The Victoria Street Lunar Festival has become one of the most popular Lunar New Year celebrations in Victoria. A trivia quiz – with all questions relating to space and astronomy will also take place during the night.\nASV President\, Chris Rudge\, said the Wine Under the Stars event will provide people the perfect escape from the anxiety and stress of the state’s most recent lockdown.\n“For me\, astronomy has always been the perfect way to visit other worlds. It’s relaxing\, and it provides a greater perspective on life.\nPassionate winestronomers will get the chance to tour the night sky virtually through a projector\, utilising the astronomy program\, Stellarium.\n“We’ll have an ASV member who will give a very interesting presentation on the night sky\, using Stellarium\, pointing out awe-inspiring objects like the planets\, galaxies and nebulae.\n“No matter what the weather\, we’ll be able to show you some amazing stellar objects currently in the night sky over Victoria\,” Chris added.\nChris said all proceeds of the fundraising event will go towards funding ASV’s Pathways to the Planets.\nOnce fully-funded\, the program will enable the ASV to create pathways and suitable access for people living with a disability to experience their dark sky viewing site\, which is located just north of Heathcote.\nAll funds raised will go to the ASV’s Pathways to The Planets (All Abilities Astronomy) Project.\n\nWhat’s included:\n– A glass of Shiraz Republic Wine or Cornella Brewery Beer.\n– A choice of 3 meal options provided by Beatbox Food Truck (see below)\n– A guided tour of the night sky\, including viewing through telescopes and live projected images. SUMMARY:Turkish Pazar – Tastes of Turkey
DESCRIPTION:Travel to Turkey without leaving Australia at the Turkish Pazar\, recreating the street bazaars of Turkey. \nTaste a delicious array of Turkish street food\, including gözleme and döner kebabs\, as well as delicious vegan and vegetarian snacks\, sweets and Turkish coffee. New additions to the menu will include mantı\, known as Turkish ravioli\, and Noah’s Pudding which has a very deep meaning during the month of Muharrem. \nFriendly stall holders will share information about their culture\, and tents will display Turkish arts and handicrafts including demonstrations of ebru\, the delicate art of paper marbling. \nRoving performers and artists will provide entertainment\, and the colourful Australian Ottoman Mehter Band will perform on Sunday at 12.30pm along Queen Street and up through the Market. \nThis family-friendly\, free event will be held undercover in the iconic sheds at Queen Victoria Market.
