SUMMARY:Steam & Cuisine After Dark
DESCRIPTION:Have you been looking for a chance to step back\, relax and reconnect with your loved one\, family members or a group of friends? \nSteam & Cuisine After Dark is Puffing Billy’s brand new evening dining experience\, and provides a perfect opportunity to do just that. \nJoin us and share a wonderfully authentic experience of bygone days – topped off with a touch of luxury! \nThis is a one of a kind dining event aboard Puffing Billy’s enclosed\, First Class dining carriages\, and you have the opportunity to be one of the first to experience it. \nALLOW US TO SET THE SCENE…\nUpon arrival at Puffing Billy’s Belgrave Station you will immediately be struck by the quiet atmosphere of the evening at this otherwise busy tourist attraction. \nLive music adds to the ambience as you take in the nostalgia of steam and watch the train crew prepare the historic locomotive for its departure. \nBefore long\, our friendly train hosts will welcome you onboard the beautifully restored dining carriages. This really is Puffing Billy like you’ve never seen before! \nAs you sit back and relax in the cozy carriage booths\, the train host will take your beverage orders and suddenly you’ll feel the train departing from the station. \nUnderway\, you can enjoy the lights of Melbourne after dark whilst our live musical entertainer further adds to the rustic atmosphere of the inviting carriages. \nTHE FOOD AND WINE\nWhen dining in a restaurant\, the first thing to do is peruse the menu and place your order. However\, Steam & Cuisine After Dark provides a preselected menu which means that no time is wasted. You can simply sit back and enjoy the conversation whilst our train hosts serve the cuisine to your table. What’s more\, the menu is all gluten free! \nOur full menu can be viewed here and includes the Hearty Vegetable Soup\, Baked Chicken with Pesto sauce and Succulent pan seared Tasmanian Salmon. To finish\, you’ll be faced with the difficult choice between Sticky Date Pudding or Key Lime Pie. Here’s a tip though: If you choose different dishes to the people in your travel party\, you can have a taste of each… \nThis delicious three course dinner is of course complemented by a selection of wines and boutique beers from our nearby wine region\, the Yarra Valley. \nTHE JOURNEY\nSteam & Cuisine After Dark departs from Puffing Billy’s Belgrave station at 7.30pm\, with the musical entertainer performing live from 6.30pm onwards. \nThe entree and main course are served whilst the train winds its way through the Dandenong Ranges\, with the world’s tallest flowering tree – the Mountain Ash towering overhead and lush fern gullies brushing past. \nThe steam and the train whistle makes for a thrilling journey through the temperate rainforest before the train arrives into Lakeside station. Here\, the locomotive will take water – an essential component of steam train operations. Meanwhile\, you can choose to remain onboard and continue conversing\, or alternatively\, stretch your legs on the platform and capture some amazing images of the steam locomotive at night time. \nThe return journey completes the evening\, with dessert\, tea\, coffee and a complimentary glass of port served. After the train’s return back into Belgrave station at approx 10.30pm\, it’s time to say your goodbyes and start planning your next unique night out! \nFARES:\n$99 per person. No concessions apply. \nBOOK ONLINE TODAY or find out more on the Puffing Billy website: http://puffingbilly.com.au/en/events-and-dining/sc-after-dark/

SUMMARY:The History of American Whiskey
DESCRIPTION:Taste your way through the history of American Whiskey. From 18th century Rye to corn\, through to Millet and more.\nCocktails\, Whiskeys and Southern food to match. This night will be informative\, fun and very very tasty! \nIt was the Scotish and irish who bought the tenacity and hard work required to lay the foundations of a Whiskey industry earlier in the 18th century.\nThe unique flavour of bourbon\, which is lighter than rye\, began when Virginia encouraged its ‘corn patch and cabin rights’ in 1776. This had required anybody settling on land in the newly found area of Kentucky to plant and grow corn.\nNew Orleans plays a huge part in the history of American Whiskey. Producers wanted to get their product to market as quickly as possibly\, and the Mississippi river was the fastest way to hit international ships.\nEvery single bourbon produced today uses the sour mash process\, similar to sourdough\, a small portion of the previous batch are used to start the next. It is believed Dr James Crow\, of old crow bourbon\, is responsible for this scientific approach.
