DESCRIPTION:Victorians will be given a chance to taste the cosmos at The Shiraz Republic in Cornella\, just outside of Bendigo.\nTelescopes will be set up near the vineyards of Shiraz Republic and ticket-holders will be able to see bright deep-sky objects through the projector whilst enjoying a drop of their favourite wine or lager. A trivia quiz – with all questions relating to space and astronomy will also take place during the night.\nASV President\, Chris Rudge\, said the Wine Under the Stars event will provide people the perfect escape from the anxiety and stress of the state’s most recent lockdown.\n“For me\, astronomy has always been the perfect way to visit other worlds. It’s relaxing\, and it provides a greater perspective on life.\nPassionate winestronomers will get the chance to tour the night sky virtually through a projector\, utilising the astronomy program\, Stellarium.\n“We’ll have an ASV member who will give a very interesting presentation on the night sky\, using Stellarium\, pointing out awe-inspiring objects like the planets\, galaxies and nebulae.\n“No matter what the weather\, we’ll be able to show you some amazing stellar objects currently in the night sky over Victoria\,” Chris added.\nChris said all proceeds of the fundraising event will go towards funding ASV’s Pathways to the Planets.\nOnce fully-funded\, the program will enable the ASV to create pathways and suitable access for people living with a disability to experience their dark sky viewing site\, which is located just north of Heathcote.\nAll funds raised will go to the ASV’s Pathways to The Planets (All Abilities Astronomy) Project.\n\nWhat’s included:\n– A glass of Shiraz Republic Wine or Cornella Brewery Beer.\n– A choice of 3 meal options provided by Beatbox Food Truck (see below)\n– A guided tour of the night sky\, including viewing through telescopes and live projected images.
