Celebrate the Year of the RAT at Melbourne Chinatown’s 2020 Chinese New Year Festival.
Don’t miss the amazing Dai Loong Dragon Parade: this remarkably long and lucky beast is carried and animated by 200+ people!
Commences at the Chinese Museum at approx. 11.45 am, organised by the Melbourne Dai Loong Association.
Travels up Little Bourke St, turns left along Exhibition St, turns left down Lonsdale Street, turns left to Elizabeth Street, turns left up Lt Bourke St, back to Chinese Museum by 1 pm
The parade starts at the Chinese Museum and moves through Melbourne streets, which is open for free after the Dragon returns.
Throughout the day there are also lion dances, bringing good fortune to local businesses with firecrackers and drumming. Other highlights include piggy themed eating competitions, roving performers and the yearly favourite, alfresco yum cha.
In the heart of the CBD, Lunar New Year festivities will light up the city throughout the day and night.
