Cost: From $15
This one may seem a little out of the way but before you write it off, consider catching the Steam to the Tastes of Goulburn Festival.
If you’re willing to get up early enough, get down to Southern Cross station for an 8:25 am departure and travel in style on a vintage steam-hauled mainline train right through to the festival. Ticket prices include festival entry and a tasting glass!
Jump on again in the afternoon to arrive back in Melbourne at 4 pm.
Why wouldn’t any Melbourne foodie turn this into a day to remember?
Celebrate the Goulburn River Valley’s local produce, taste gourmet regional produce, and sip local award-winning wines. You can meet the producers and winemakers and even be the first to try new products and flavors. And if the steam train isn’t for you, it’s only an hour by car from Melbourne.
So head on out for an amazing day.
