Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust is delighted to invite you to attend the Italian Culinary Heritage Tour event being held from 6pm-10pm on April 7 at the Melbourne General Cemetery (MGC).

As the final resting place of many of Melbourne’s most influential restaurateurs, café owners, vignerons and merchants this very special event celebrates the history of Melbourne’s culinary past, starting at the historic Gatehouse of Melbourne General Cemetery. Be guided on an exploration of food and wine showcasing the heritage of many of Melbourne’s prominent restaurateurs including the Massonis of Florentino restaurant fame and Mietta O’Donnell.

You’ll be taken on a historical journey; pausing at notable gravesites to taste signature dishes re-created by the head chef of Cafe Vita et flores Allan Koh. With a background of charming Italian music, this is a rare, historical, experience where you can pay homage to those who helped Melbourne to become the culturally diverse, globally visited food hub that it is today.
