Celebrating its fifth year, the Melbourne Salami Festa keeps growing in popularity and in 2016 has expanded to a full weekend food festival. A record crowd of more than 6000 people attended last year’s Festa, with more than 30,000
slices of home-made salami tasted during Sunday’s popular competition, where punters vote for their favourite home made salami in the People’s Choice Award.

The 2016 Festa becomes a Day & Night Market, showcasing the country’s best artisan salumi producers in the Grand Salumi Hall (open til 10pm Sat), and for the first time hosting a Farmer’s market during the day on Saturday. Demonstrations and workshops will run throughout the weekend along with great food, live music and entertainment.

Arguably one of Melbourne’s most unique and fun food festivals, the Festa has helped spark a revival of interest in the art and tradition of salami making. The event has been embraced by a passionate new breed of foodies, as well as traditional families who have been making salami for generations.
