A COMMUNITY CELEBRATES AN ICON REBORN
Pentridge is gearing up for its biggest weekend yet with the forthcoming Pentridge Festival. Held over Saturday and Sunday April 8th and 9th, the event celebrates both the 20th anniversary since Pentridge Prison closed its doors, and its recent revival as a community-oriented adaptive reuse heritage precinct.
With a line up of artists showcasing Melbourne’s best and emerging talent, plus artisan stalls and diverse food offerings from around the world, Pentridge Festival will truly be an event for young and old. From families throwing down a picnic rug on the lawn to friends gathering for a great night out, the Piazza at Pentridge will come alive as the Coburg community celebrates its past, present and future.
YOUR CHANCE TO STEP INTO PENTRIDGE’S PAST [SOLD OUT]
The Festival will also feature a rare chance to explore some of Pentridge’s history, with free tours taking you through its historic former prison buildings, yards and cells.
These 45-minute tours will run every hour both Saturday and Sunday from 12.30pm, with the last tour at 5.30pm.
Groups are limited to 40 people and will let you experience first-hand B Division, the panopticon exercise yards, and the solitary confinement cells. Demand for these free tours will be high, so ensure you book via the form below to avoid disappointment!
ENJOY MELBOURNE’S BEST AND EMERGING ARTISTS
