Thai Loy Krathong Festival
12 November, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
THIS IS A FREE EVENT
About our Thai Lunar Loy Krathong Festival:
“Loi Krathong” is Thailand’s oldest festival.
Loi means to float. On the night of the full moon, Thais launch their krathong on a river, canal or a pond, making a wish as they do so.
The festival may originate from an ancient ritual paying respect to the water spirits. A source of washing away the past for a brighter future.
A ritual of good luck for the new year.
The main feature of the festival is the symbolic placing of flowers in water, followed by thai cultural dances and cultural significant activities as well as authentic Thai cuisine from Melbourne’s popular Thai restaurants.
This is an event not to be missed!
