Intro to Veganism with Shaktifresh

Whether you’re looking for a healthier lifestyle, social justice, or are just curious about the movement, Veganism 101 will open your eyes and inspire your journey from omnivore to herbivore. Veganism is more than just a diet; it’s a profound lifestyle choice. We’ll open with the basics: the definition and ethics, health and environmental benefits, and which sneaky non-vegan products to watch out for. Then we’ll bust common myths surrounding the practice, such as “animal populations must be controlled by eating them”, “veganism is socially isolating and too difficult”, and “the vegan diet lacks sufficient protein”. All false.

We’ll discuss helpful tips and tricks for making the transition, harnessing social media, and which delicious meat substitutes will smash those beastly cravings. This comprehensive class will allow plenty of time for questions. You’ll discover vegan kitchen staples (and your new best friend, nooch) and recipes while nomming on delicious cruelty-free treats. And best of all, you’ll connect with a new community of plant-based friends and share the pilgrimage from savage to savvy.

TEACHER BIO

Aliza is not your typical vegan yogi. Rather than shove Buddhist philosophies and slaughterhouse videos down your throat, her goal is to create change and inspire others to take steps, no matter how small, towards leading fuller and more authentic lives. Originally experimenting with vegetarianism for a month six years ago, Aliza has not touched meat since. Veganism for her is not only about food, but is a conscious, healthy and ethical lifestyle.
